Pear server down for diagnostics

UPDATE: Due to some delays, this diagnostic work has had to be rescheduled for the same time on Tuesday morning.

Following pear server’s crash this morning it will be going down at around 7/8am GMT tomorrow morning (Tuesday 8th) for hardware diagnostics to be run. We do not know how long the server will be down for, however we hope that the cause of this morning’s server crash will be found and rectified, as we believe the cause may be hardware related. The server will be brought back online as soon as possible, once the diagnostic work is complete.

We would like to thank you for your patience whilst this diagnostic work is carried out.

Xmas/New Year Support Opening Times

Here are the details of when support will be available as normal and when it will be operating at a reduced level over the xmas and new year holidays.

Up to 5pm on Monday 24th December – As normal

5pm on 24th to 9am on 27th December – Support will be reduced to responding to urgent issues only (such as server outages). All non-urgent support requests will be dealt with on Thursday 27th.

9am on 27th to 5pm on Monday 31st – As normal

5pm on 31st to 9am on Wednesday 2nd January – Support will be reduced to responding to urgent issues only (such as server outages). All non-urgent support requests will be dealt with on Wednesday 2nd.

9am on Wednesday 2nd January onwards – As normal

Please note that during the times listed, the only form of support available will be our HelpDesk. We will not respond to live support requests during times when is operating at a reduced level.

Transfer of Uzipp accounts paid by 2CheckOut

We would like to inform all Uzipp clients who pay their account by credit/debit card on 2CheckOut that their accounts are now being transferred to GHXhosting.com. An e-mail has been sent to all clients who pay by 2CheckOut to inform them of this.

Accounts which are paid by PayPal will be transferred at a later date.

Pear server outage yesterday

Yesterday, due to power issues at the BlueSquare datacentre where GHXhosting.com Pear server is located, which hosts the Uzipp website and all Ensim based sites, there was an unexpected outage which unfortunately lasted for several hours. We did post updated on the GHXhosting.com forums during this time, however the Uzipp website and forums were inaccessible so we were unable to post updates here. We have been sent the following e-mail from our server provider at BlueSquare, which has further details about the outage.

“As you will be more than painfully aware, yesterday we suffered a large, wide spread outage. Currently the information we have is 3rd hand and we’ve not yet had an official response from the datacentre however we are lead to believe that at approx 4pm a 3rd party electrician was working on a fuse board and for whatever reason caused our racks, as well as a number of BlueSquare’s other customer to loose power. The power itself was restored fairly quickly however a number of VPS host machines and dedicated servers required manual intervention to get them backup and running. Unfortunately due to some of the VPS servers needing to run a filesystem check this did take 3-4 hours + time for each VPS to rebuild its quota databases hence some users seeing huge amounts of downtime which is obviously not what we aim for. A number of our machines had 100′s of days uptime which are now obviously reset.”

I would like to take this opportunity to again apologise for yesterday’s outage and I would again like to thank all of you for waiting patiently while this issue was resolved by the datacentre staff.

Grape Server Migration

I have now migrated all sites from grape server across to the new GHXhosting.com pear server. All clients hosted on grape should have been sent an e-mail informing them about this. A copy of this e-mail can also be found on the forums at http://forum.uzipp.com/index.php?showtopic=3843

This new site has been created to allow us to update you on the process of migration the client base of UZIPP.com to GHXhosting.com, including migrating all sites to their servers.
