Update on Pear server

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Earlier today, pear server was taken down to have it’s memory tested. This was a planned outage, but as it was scheduled at the last minute, we were unfortunately unable to give any advance notice. The server passed the memory test, so I have just upgraded to the kernel which will hopefully solve the stability issues. I will be monitoring the server over the next few hours to make sure there are no problems caused by the upgrade.

Hopefully this will be the end of the server crashes and unplanned downtime.

Thank you for bearing with us during these outages.

Pear server down for diagnostics

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

UPDATE: Due to some delays, this diagnostic work has had to be rescheduled for the same time on Tuesday morning.

Following pear server’s crash this morning it will be going down at around 7/8am GMT tomorrow morning (Tuesday 8th) for hardware diagnostics to be run. We do not know how long the server will be down for, however we hope that the cause of this morning’s server crash will be found and rectified, as we believe the cause may be hardware related. The server will be brought back online as soon as possible, once the diagnostic work is complete.

We would like to thank you for your patience whilst this diagnostic work is carried out.
